Groundbreaking (1959)
Made by: Kathy Cochran
The shovel pictured here represents the groundbreaking for our first unit. The land was purchased from Old Trail School in August 1955 for $30,500. A service of dedication was held at the building site in August 1956. The cornerstone was laid on September 27, 1959. Architect Norman Mansell designed the first unit at a cost of $158,000. After the congregation approved the plan, it was turned over to local architect Elmer Guran, for completion. The unit was dedicated on February 28, 1960.
