  • PARKING REQUEST

On June 19 the NEW worship schedule will begin at Faith Lutheran Church.

Parking may be a bit tight, since there will be only 15 minutes between services, so the Church Council makes these suggestions.

PLEASE leave the first row of parking spaces, particularly those near the doors, for those with mobility challenges.; WHY NOT get a bit of exercise by parking in the spaces in the far corners of the lot or in the bank parking lot to the east?; REMEMBER, the West Market Street doors are unlocked; consider parking in front of the church (facing east) or in the parking lot across the street.; LESS CONGESTION will occur if those attending the 9:15 a.m. service park on the west side of the lot and those attending 10:30 a.m. worship park on the east side.

We thank you in advance for your graciousness during this time of transition!!!

    50th Anniversary

Help celebrate Faith’s 50th Anniversary year on Music Sunday, May 15.

Join us to sing “THE CREATION” with BOUND and Bob Mollard, under the direction of Lowell Unger. Look for the rehearsal schedule in the Weekly Beacon. All singers, including choir alumni, are encouraged to be part of this celebration event.

    Webster defines volunteer as:

    1) one who serves or acts on his or her free will; 2) to offer or give of one’s own accord; 3) to offer oneself.

Here at Faith Lutheran Church we have literally hundreds of people who serve God by helping with every thing from altar preparation to zoological information sharing! Many people don’t realize that whatever they do here, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is not only serving God but also is ministry to others.

Pastor Jean and Judy and I hope that we always say thanks and let you know how much we appreciate all you do, but the fact is, we simply cannot reach everyone who helps every time. This year we have planned an “Evening of Thanks” to do just that!

The Volunteer Appreciation Event will be held here at Faith in the Fellowship Hall on Monday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. It will include: Delightful Entertainment provided by Praiseapella (as heard on 95.5) and our new junior choir, Delicious Desserts baked by Wendy, Carolyn, Carolyn’s friends and a bakery or two Door Prize Drawings - hope you win one of our unique “Faith” gifts!

Plan NOW to join us; doors open at 6:15 and you won’t want to miss the fun.

    License Plate…

What Might YOUR License Plate Say? It was a clear, cool morning on March 19 as I drove into work. I was excited! It was the day we would gather to go across W. Market to the shopping center and pass out plastic Easter Eggs. Each egg carried a piece of candy and an Easter greeting inviting people to worship. As I drove, I prayed that God would call lots of people out to help, and thanked him that we wouldn’t be walking in torrential downpour or blizzard! Just then a car zipped by me and I was surprised and delighted to see that the license plate said HOSANNA. What a great greeting on the Saturday before Palm Sunday.

It caused me to pause and think about what I’d like to say on a license plate? Might it be, “I LV JC”, “God’s Girl”, or would I even be willing to have a “vanity plate” telling others of my spiritual walk? Upon further contemplation I realized that even if we don’t “advertise” our faith on vanity plates, we can be a walking reminder of God’s love in the world.

Thanks to the many members who came forth to help that day, Faith Lutheran Church was represented by smiling faces and happy Easter Greetings.

Last year 10 people passed out 250 eggs. This year 23 people passed out 500 eggs. Way to go!

    Ever Been Thirsty?

We all know what happens to our bodies when they are depleted of water. Imagine what happens to our spirits when we don’t “drink” enough from God’s Word? IN this spring’s Book and Bible Discussion group, Carolyn will lead you through some of the soul quenching ideas in the new Max Lucado book, “Come Thirsty”.

Book Study begins April 27. Wednesday morning session from 9:45 – 11, Wednesday evening session 7:00 – 8:15. You may pick and choose which time is best for you. Child care will be provided as well as an opportunity for children 4 and up to attend junior choir.

It will be helpful to own the book, but not necessary. We will discuss portions of the book and related scripture topics and hopefully not only have our spirits filled, but grow into better disciples because of it!
