  • Come Help Un-decorate

Please come and help undecorate the church! 9 a.m. on January 8 - "Many hands make light work!"

Meeting Reminder Worship Team 9:30 a.m. on January 15 - Planning will be done for Lent, which begins on February 9!

    Your Spiritual Check Up

Come tell me your story! During 2005 I want to speak to each of you and hear about your life, your dreams, your faith. I want to know what role Jesus plays in your life. I want to see what the church can do to deepen your spiritual life and help you face day-to-day challenges.

So give me a call or email and set up an appointment for a "check up"! Our chat will take about 45 minutes, no pre-appointment paperwork is necessary, and best of all, every insurance plan is covered!

    Family Retreat

Want to see if there is any interest in a family retreat this spring? This would probably be a Friday night and Saturday and there would be fun, games, learning, laughter, fellowship and, of course, food. Activities would be planned for people of all ages and there would be "together time" as well.

This will be a huge undertaking, and so I really need to get a sense of interest early in the planning phase. Please call or e-mail me by January 15 if your family might be interested.

    Explorers' Club

Coming in January Discover God in the World of Science

Invite Someone To Attend! Go to www.717detour for more information and call Melissa Johnson if you are willing to make the DETOUR happen!

DETOUR is not an additional worship service for members. It is an outreach into our community, a worship event. There will be no Holy Communion, no "usual" sermon or prayers and no offering. Instead, it is a way to reach out - particularly to young adults in the area.

    Endowment Gifts Welcome

Please remember the Endowment "Sow and Grow" giving tree has several leaves that are still available. Your gift of $1,000.00 can help fill the tree's blank leaves. As you may know, our goal is $50,000.00 in gifts. Also consider your planned giving by way of will, trust, estate plan, insurance policy and so on. Planned gifts will offer another opportunity to establish a leaf in your name. To do so, please call an Endowment Committee member, or see Pastor Jean directly. This information will be kept confidential if you so desire.

PLEASE NOTICE THE BAROMETER NEXT TO THE TREE, IT CONTINUES TO RISE TOWARD OUR GOAL EACH MONTH!!!

On behalf of Endowment, we wish you and yours a safe and blessed Christmas Season. In Jesus' name, Bill Evans, Chair

    Anniversary Theme Contest

The 50th anniversary year at Faith Lutheran Church begins in January and there still is no theme for this important event. So, the creative minds in the congregation are being challenged with an Anniversary Theme Contest.

Who can come up with a theme for Faith's 50th anniversary? Here are the guidelines: The theme should celebrate past ministry, but also focus on the present and future. The theme should be concise enough to use in publications and on programs. The theme should catch people's attention and be immediately understood.

Please put theme submissions in the office mailbox next to the pastor's office. Be sure to include a name. Deadline: January 15, 2005 - The winner will receive TWO free meals at the anniversary banquet on September 25 at the Hilton and seats next to whomever he or she chooses!

    Thank You

I wish to thank all those that participated in the December 16 Fellowship Calling Event. While we were few in number, we did contact (personally or VIA answering machines) many members of the congregation. A special emphasis was placed on calling all our members who are on the church's prayer list.

I have concluded that December, with more pressing demands for time, is not the best month for this event in the future. The next Fellowship Calling Event will be Thursday, February 3.

    Bill Pope
