Faith Garden Meeting

Saturday, March at 10:30 am

The Community Garden needs YOU!

2020 is just under way, but it is already time to start thinking about the Faith Community Garden. Our first garden meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on March 7 in the Library. Join us and learn how to help feed the hungry of Akron. You can:

· Claim a plot: This is your area to plant, weed, water, harvest.
 OR
· Help prepare the gardens for planting.
· Help with watering.
· Help with weeding and spraying.
· Help with harvesting.

Coordinating with a gardener to do these things on even a one-time basis can be a huge help, and is greatly appreciated.

Many of our gardeners from last year have increased family obligations and need to cut back on their plot size. Some of the gardeners are even thinking of giving up a plot altogether. So, in order to continue to provide the much-needed produce to OPEN M this coming season we will need help.

This outreach program is right in our own back yard – literally!  Some of the projects need to be done as a group, but most of the work can be done on your own time frame – daytime, evenings or weekends.  Consider making this a family outreach!

Gardening IS a big commitment, but there is really nothing like taking a bite of a ripe, juicy, red tomato that you have grown, or popping a cherry tomato in your mouth.  There is also nothing like the sense of accomplishment in helping provide our OPEN M families with fresh produce.  We hope to see some new faces at 10:30 a.m. on March 7 in the library!
