New Online Study Focuses on Second Readings

You are invited to join a new online Bible study exploring the second readings appointed for worship during the Easter season. This study includes two sessions: Tuesday, April 4, and Tuesday, May 2. We will meet via Zoom beginning at 7 p.m. Pr. David Nevergall will be our study leader.

Second or “epistle” readings are generally from the letters of the New Testament. They provide a valuable commentary on the theme of each Sunday from the perspective of the early/emerging Church. There will be plenty of time for discussion and Q&A. Please bring your Bible; any translation is fine. The texts we will be exploring include:

On Tuesday, April 4

  • Colossians 3:1-4 (appointed for Easter Day)
  • 1 Peter 1:3-9 (Easter 2)
  • 1 Peter 1:17-23 (Easter 3)
  • 1 Peter 2:19-25 (Easter 4)

On Tuesday, May 2

  • 1 Peter 2:2-10 (Easter 5)
  • 1 Peter 3:13-22 (Easter 6)
  • Ephesians 1:15-23 (Ascension Day)
  • 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13 (The Day of Pentecost)

P.S. This study is open to everyone in the community. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to invite a friend to join you. They are welcome!
