Volunteers were busy last night at Faith Lutheran's Laundry Ministry (Laundry Time in North Hill and Laudromat City in Wallhaven) and Holy Trinity Lutheran's Laundry Ministry (Holland's 24-Hour Laundromat, 1506 S. Arlington St.).
In between starting washers and dryers, random acts of kindness were witnessed at North Hill. A customer was seen giving his extra pair of very new looking tennis shoes to a homeless customer, afterwhich they shook hands and hugged. Another customer overheard that someone needed a smaller washing machine. Even though she had just loaded her clothes in the washer, she took them out and offered up the machine, without being asked.
Darlene is kept busy with mending clothes. Customers still thank her months later for her handiwork.
