At Faith, we take a multi-faceted approach to experiencing faith and life with our youth.

December 2020 - update

On Thursday December 17th, we will host a Christmas themed Trivia and In-Home Scavenger hunt from 5:30-7:30pm via Google Meet. We will kick off the evening with Christmas trivia via Kahoot and will end the evening with an In-Home Scavenger Hunt competition. The Scavenger hunt will give us all a glimpse into holiday traditions and decorations within each other's homes!

Since we can't gather together in person for our annual Advent lunch and movie, Wednesday December 23rd all youth are invited to attend a live viewing of The Nativity Story. We will gather together via Google Meet for a live watch party of The Nativity Story beginning at 5:30pm.

We will observe Christmas Break December 24th through January 2nd this year, and will kick off the New Year on Sunday, January 3rd! Enjoy this time with your family as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and look forward with hope to a New Year. All youth in grades 6-12 are invited and encouraged to join us during FACE Time at 9:10am via Google Meet on January 3rd!

Beginning the week of January 4th, all youth in grades 6-12 are asked to collect basic necessities for the Campus Cupboard at the University of Akron, via a targeted list sent by Eric. Campus Cupboard provides students in periodic need with access to basic necessities of daily living. This service has been especially imperative throughout the pandemic due to loss of income for students and parents. Youth/families are asked to collect items in 1 paper grocery bag for contactless pickup and delivery by Eric, the week of January 11th.

Finally, our second Learning Saturday will take place on Saturday January 23rd, from 9:30-11:30am via Google Meet. All 6th and 7th grade youth need to attend, and any 8th grade youth who still need to fulfill retreat requirements are invited to join! Please be aware that you will need to join us via a device (phone, tablet, computer) that supports both video and audio!

For youth in grades 6-8, we offer a comprehensive experience with the goal of being confirmed. The program consists of requirements in 3’s that relate to staple elements of the church as a whole: education, community service and fellowship. For more information on the comprehensive program and requirements, contact Eric!

2020-2021 Confirmation Information

A few things as we settle into a new year at FLC.

First, please make sure that we have the most current contact information for youth and parents/guardians. Please follow this link to a fillable form that will be sent directly to Eric! I am asking that ALL confirmation families fill this out. It should only take about 3 minutes. 2020/2021 FLCYouth Contact Info.

Secondly, if you have not joined our Remind texting group, please do so after updating your contact info! The app is one of the central ways we are able to contact youth and parents in a much more time efficient manner. Download the Remind app and add our class: @ydirec

We have made some changes this year to keep safety in mind with the pandemic, and much of our weekly programming will take place online. We have also changed the time and length of the Learning Saturdays (previously, retreats) to only 2 hours (9:30-11:30am!). We know things will be a bit of a challenge this year, but Pastor Jean and I are doing everything we can to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible! If you have any questions or concerns, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO REACH OUT TO ME!!! You all are so important to us, and your thoughts and opinions help guide our programming!

Thank you, and let's have a great year together!

Eric, Abby and Pastor Jean
